  • At the beginning of rainfall, the water flow in the pipeline is small and cannot reach the full pipe state, which is gravity flow.
  • As the rainfall increases, the water level in front of the bucket increases, and the system flow pattern gradually transitions to plug flow and foam flow, and the siphon full pipe pressure flow pattern appears intermittently.
  • The rainfall is further increased, the water level in front of the bucket is stable, and the air intake of the system is reduced, thus entering a stable siphon full pipe pressure flow state.
In the case of the same displacement, the siphon drainage system requires a smaller water depth in front of the bucket than the gravity flow system. This is very beneficial to the building and structural design of the roof. The pipe diameter used by the siphon system is not only smaller than gravity flow, but also "less" than gravity flow. The system shown in Figure 4, that is, one horizontal pipe and one stand pipe, can be connected to more than ten rainwater buckets, while the gravity flow system requires multiple stand pipes.
